Lifeless Misery

Winter wraps around my soul like a weighted blanket. My senses are dampened, making the pursuit of joy feel unattainable. I stare out my window at the bare branches, the fog, and the mud…and a deep unbelief settles in. There's no magic here. This gray-brown must simply be endured in all its lifeless misery, my moods subjected to the hollow echoes of its scarcity.
